The route at a glance This outline gives Luxor four days before a river journey: the east bank, royal tombs and Hatshepsut’s temple, the southern west-bank sites, then a lighter day leading towards boarding. The boat’s nights, route and departure point must come from the operator’s confirmed itinerary. Arrange the Luxor stay around those details, or reverse the sequence if you arrive from Aswan. The value is time to connect temples, tombs and today’s city without treating boarding day as spare sightseeing time. This one was the destination of a festival that travelled between the two temples — sometimes by road and sometimes by water — which makes it the right place to start thinking of the Nile as a route rather than a view. The rhythm of this whole plan is early start, long midday, late finish, and it is the same rhythm most river journeys keep. **Transport**: A taxi north to Karnak, then the corniche on foot. Both temples and the museum are on the same bank as almost every mooring in Luxor. **What to skip if tired**: Shorten Karnak to the area that interests you most. After two days of kings, the village of the men who cut their tombs is the correction that makes the rest of it human. 3. [The Ramesseum](https://luxor101.com/ancient-luxor/ramesseum) Optional About 1 hour An optional comparison with Medinet Habu: both temples commemorate a Ramesside king, but their surviving halls, sculpture and stores tell different parts of the story. The short drives between sites do not replace time off your feet. **Transport**: Ferry and taxi.
