# Where to stay in Luxor

For a first visit, the east-bank centre is a useful base for Luxor Temple, the museum and evenings in town. The west bank can suit an equally good first visit if you prefer a quieter setting and early access to the necropolis. Choose by your priorities, transport and the property’s actual location. We do not review hotels or verify their prices, facilities or availability.

## Before you go

Choose the area before the property. Around central Luxor on the east bank, you are near the temple, the corniche and many town services. Farther towards Karnak, distances vary: check the exact address rather than trusting “central” in a listing.

The west bank offers village and agricultural settings close to many archaeological sites. It can work for a first visit as well as a return trip. The trade-off is transport to the east-bank temples, museum and station. Ask about crossings and evening returns before booking.

A night aboard a vessel is a different arrangement. Confirm the actual mooring, boarding access and daily schedule; “Luxor” as an embarkation label does not establish the gangway’s location.

Ask about the things that affect your own stay: air conditioning, noise, lifts, step-free room access, bathroom layout, early breakfast and late arrival. A river view or an attractive photograph does not answer those questions.

## Hotel prices: a broad starting point

Booking.com’s Luxor city FAQ, checked on 19 September 2026, reports these general average nightly prices in US dollars:

**Three-star hotels**: 35 USD

**Four-star hotels**: 71 USD

**Five-star hotels**: 124 USD

These are the platform’s aggregates, not a Luxor101 market survey or a quote for your trip. The FAQ does not disclose stay dates, occupancy, taxes, room categories or sample size. Compare the total for the same dates, guests, cancellation terms and meals; holiday and winter rates may differ.
