Luxor has a desert climate: summers are very hot, while winter days are generally milder and nights can feel cold. Rain is uncommon, but weather warnings still matter. Check the forecast close to your visit, especially for heat, dust and strong winds.

The cooler months give you more flexibility for outdoor visits. They can also be busy, so leave time for queues and avoid promising yourself an empty site at opening. Early starts are useful for comfort even when other visitors have the same idea.

Spring and autumn are variable. A date outside summer does not guarantee mild weather, and spring can bring hot, dusty winds. Keep your plan flexible enough to shorten a walk or move an activity.

In summer, put exposed sites into the coolest available hours and arrange a reliably cool place for the middle of the day. A tomb is not a dependable cooling stop. Choose fewer sites, arrange transport and be willing to stop early. If heat affects a health condition or medication you take, seek individual advice before travelling.
